For the purposes of applicable data protection and privacy laws, TechClass shall be regarded as the “data controller” of the Personal Data processed in connection with the Services, unless otherwise expressly stated.

This Privacy Policy describes the categories of Personal Data that TechClass collects, uses, and processes in connection with the use of its websites, platforms, and related Services (collectively, the “Site”). Certain functionalities of the Site may be accessed without providing Personal Data. However, access to specific features, content, or Services—particularly those related to TechClass’s learning and training offerings—may require the provision of Personal Data.
For the purposes of this Policy, “Personal Data” means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be associated with an individual. Examples include, but are not limited to, a name, email address, Internet Protocol (IP) address, and device identifiers. The term “processing” refers to activities such as collecting, storing, using, transferring, and disclosing personal data.
The user is solely responsible for ensuring the accuracy and currency of the Personal Data provided to TechClass. Submission of incomplete or inaccurate information may impair the user’s ability to access the Services, affect the quality of information provided, and limit TechClass’s ability to communicate with the user. For instance, a valid and current email address is necessary to receive important communications regarding the use of the Services.
3.1. TechClass may process the Personal Data of employees, customers, potential customers, instructors (lecturers, trainers, faculty), business partners, and other relevant interest groups. The categories of Personal Data processed shall depend on the relationship between the data subject and TechClass and may include, without limitation, the following:
(a) Identity and Contact Information. Name, company, job title, address, telephone number, email address, and other comparable contact details.
(b) Study and Attainment Data. Information relating to training performance, participation, assignments, assessments, certifications, and results.
(c) Demographic Information. Gender, date of birth, nationality or nationalities.
(d) Business Information. The name, contact details, and business area of the enterprise with which the data subject is associated.
(e) Transactional Data. Information relating to any transaction between TechClass and the data subject, including information concerning orders and purchases of TechClass services.
(f) Feedback Data. Information is submitted through surveys, evaluations, or other feedback mechanisms.
(g) Online Usage Data. Information concerning the use of the Site or online services, including browsing data, logs of activity, and related diagnostic data.
(h) Technical Data. Data collected automatically through cookies, web beacons, and comparable technologies, as well as browser information and device identifiers.
3.3. For customers, TechClass may additionally process:
(a) Personal identity number (e.g., national identification number, henkilötunnus);
(b) Passport number or comparable identification numbers, where required by local or international partner authorities;
(c) Biometric information, but solely where required in connection with statutory examinations, including the recording of examination sessions on video.
3.4. For instructors (lecturers, trainers, or faculty), TechClass may additionally process:
(a) Date of birth;
(b) Personal identity number;
(c) Nationality or nationalities.
3.5. For employees, TechClass may additionally process:
(a) Date of birth;
(b) Personal identity number;
(c) Nationality or nationalities;
(d) Information relating to employment and the employment contract, including role, duration of employment, payroll data, and related human resources records.
3.6. Personal Data may be collected directly from the data subject, through the data subject’s use of TechClass’s Site and Services, from transactions carried out with TechClass, or from third-party service providers and business partners where such disclosure is lawful.
TechClass processes Personal Data only where a valid legal basis exists under applicable data protection law. The specific legal basis for processing will depend on the nature of the Personal Data concerned and the context in which it is collected. The following legal grounds may apply:
4.1. Performance of a Contract: Processing is necessary for the performance of an agreement to which the data subject is a party, or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into an agreement. This includes, for example, processing required to provide TechClass’s services, manage account registration, or fulfill contractual commitments with academic institutions, employers, or other organizations that provide access to TechClass Services.
4.2. Compliance with a Legal Obligation: Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which TechClass is subject, such as bookkeeping, invoicing, financial reporting, or statutory record-keeping obligations in connection with registered studies.
4.3. Legitimate Interests: Processing is carried out where necessary for the purposes of TechClass’s legitimate interests, or those of a third party, provided such interests are not overridden by the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject. Legitimate interests include, but are not limited to:
Where processing is based on legitimate interests, TechClass undertakes a balancing assessment to ensure that the interests pursued are not outweighed by the rights and freedoms of the data subject.
4.4. Consent: Processing may be based on the data subject’s consent where required by law or where voluntary consent has been provided (for example, to receive direct marketing communications or to participate in optional activities). Consent may be withdrawn at any time by the data subject, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal. Withdrawal of consent may affect TechClass’s ability to provide certain Services.
5.1. TechClass processes Personal Data in order to provide education and development services to its customers, to enable the performance of faculty services pursuant to contractual arrangements, and to facilitate the fulfillment of employment-related duties and responsibilities of its employees.
5.2. Without limitation, Personal Data may be processed for the following purposes:
(a) provision of Services to customers, including the fulfillment of requests and related communications, such as providing information concerning available Services;
(b) operation, maintenance, improvement, and development of TechClass’s business and Services;
(c) customization and personalization of Services to enhance the user experience;
(d) marketing research, including the communication of information regarding new Services, products, or promotional offers, subject to applicable legal requirements;
(e) collection and analysis of data for statistical and research purposes;
(f) management, administration, and termination of employment relationships during and after employment;
(g) compliance with mandatory legal requirements, regulatory obligations, or in connection with law enforcement, judicial proceedings, or other legal processes; and
(h) establishment, exercise, or defense of TechClass’s legitimate interests.
5.3. Date of birth may be processed for the following purposes:
(a) maintenance of study registers and issuance of qualifications, certificates, and diplomas;
(b) use as an additional identification element to verify the identity of a customer or participant;
(c) statistical reporting relating to TechClass events and training programs; and
(d) statistical reporting for international ranking surveys and accreditations, provided that such reporting does not link the data to an identifiable individual.
5.4. Personal identity number may be processed for the purposes of fulfilling obligations in connection with Nationally Funded Training Programs (including, without limitation, Jotpa procurement trainings and NextGenerationEU-funded training programs).
5.5. Nationality or nationalities may be processed for statistical reporting purposes in connection with TechClass events and training programs.
6.1. Compliance with Applicable Law: TechClass ensures that the processing of Personal Data is carried out in full compliance with all applicable data protection and privacy laws and regulations in force at any given time.
6.2. Transparency: Data subjects are appropriately informed of the processing of their Personal Data at the time of collection. For each data register maintained by TechClass, a corresponding privacy notice has been prepared and made available to the relevant data subjects in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
6.3. Purpose Limitation and Necessity: Personal Data shall be processed solely for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes and only to the extent necessary to fulfill such purposes. Processing shall be permitted only where it is supported by an applicable legal ground under data protection legislation or a contractual obligation.
6.4. Data Minimization and Retention: TechClass is committed to ensuring that Personal Data processed is adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which it is processed. Obsolete, redundant, or unnecessary data shall be discarded in a secure and appropriate manner. Personal Data shall be retained only for as long as necessary to achieve the processing purpose, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law or a competent authority.
6.5. Access Control and Confidentiality: Access to databases, systems, and files containing Personal Data shall be restricted to duly authorized persons who have a legitimate and justified business need to access such data. Access rights granted to employees are strictly determined in accordance with the employee’s role and responsibilities within TechClass. Employees are permitted to process Personal Data exclusively for the purposes for which it was collected and only to the extent necessary for the performance of their duties.
6.6. Organizational Responsibility: The governance and organization of data protection within TechClass extends across the entire organization. All employees are responsible for safeguarding Personal Data through their conduct and adherence to internal policies, procedures, and applicable legal obligations.
7.1. Personal Data and other information may be collected directly from the data subject in the context of interactions with TechClass, including but not limited to: provision of information to TechClass, use of TechClass’s websites or social media accounts, participation in research or campaigns, requests for services, subscription to newsletters, participation in the TechClass Learning Environment (TechClass LMS, TechLMS), downloading of guides, or other engagements with TechClass.
7.2. Personal Data and other information may also be obtained and updated from other registers maintained by TechClass, from registers of TechClass’s contractual partners, or from registers maintained by supervisory authorities or other competent authorities, but only to the extent permitted by and in compliance with applicable law.
7.3. Where the Personal Data consists of date of birth, personal identification number, and/or nationality, the source of such Personal Data shall always be the data subject concerned (including, as applicable, a customer, employee, or instructor).
8.1. TechClass shall retain Personal Data only for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes for which such Personal Data was collected and processed, or as required to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations, or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims. The applicable retention period shall depend on the category of Personal Data and the specific purpose of processing.
8.2. Without prejudice to statutory retention obligations or overriding legal grounds, TechClass generally applies the following retention practices:
(a) User and Customer Data: retained for the duration of the contractual or service relationship and for up to twelve (12) months following its termination, unless a longer retention period is required under applicable law.
(b) Study Records and Certification Data: retained for a period of up to five (5) years, in accordance with applicable funding and audit requirements.
(c) Employment Records: retained for the duration of employment and thereafter in accordance with Finnish labor law and other applicable statutory obligations.
(d) Cookie and Analytics Data: retained in accordance with browser and consent settings, typically for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months.
8.3. Upon expiry of the relevant retention period, Personal Data shall be securely deleted, anonymized, or otherwise irreversibly rendered unusable, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law or justified by legitimate grounds.
9.1. Personal Data may be disclosed to or transferred to third parties only to the extent permitted by applicable law. TechClass primarily processes Personal Data for its internal business purposes and shall not transfer Personal Data to external parties without the explicit consent of the data subject, except as set forth in this Section.
9.2. TechClass may disclose Personal Data to third-party service providers, contractors, or other entities engaged to perform services on its behalf, solely for the purposes for which the Personal Data was originally collected. Such third parties may access and use Personal Data only to the extent necessary to fulfill their contractual obligations to TechClass and are bound by written agreements that incorporate appropriate confidentiality, security, and data protection obligations. Third parties are prohibited from using Personal Data for purposes other than those explicitly agreed upon and may not transfer Personal Data to other parties without TechClass’s prior written consent.
9.3. Personal Data may also be disclosed or transferred to supervisory authorities, governmental or regulatory bodies, or other competent authorities where required by law, regulation, or legal process.
9.4. TechClass primarily stores and processes Personal Data within the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA). Where Personal Data is transferred outside the EU/EEA (e.g., to international service providers, cloud platforms, or affiliates), such transfers are safeguarded using appropriate legal mechanisms in accordance with the GDPR, including, without limitation:
(a) European Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs);
(b) adequacy decisions issued by the European Commission; or
(c) other lawful transfer mechanisms recognized under the GDPR.
9.5. Personal Data may be transferred, disclosed, or otherwise shared in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or other corporate transaction involving TechClass, provided that any such transfer shall be subject to binding confidentiality obligations and appropriate safeguards to ensure that the Personal Data continues to be processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Data subjects shall be notified of such transfers where required by law.
9.6. TechClass may disclose Personal Data where necessary to protect the vital interests of a data subject or another individual, including in situations involving imminent risk of physical harm, medical emergencies, or other circumstances where the disclosure is essential to preserve life, health, or safety. Such disclosures shall be limited to the minimum Personal Data necessary to address the emergency and shall be carried out in compliance with applicable legal obligations.
10.1. TechClass may deploy cookies and other similar tracking technologies on its websites and platforms to collect information regarding the User’s device, browser, and interactions with TechClass’s websites. Cookies are small text files stored on a User’s device upon accessing a website. Such files may record information including, without limitation, IP address, access times, referring URLs, pages visited, links and features used, content viewed or requested, browser or application type, language, and other device or usage-related information.
10.2. Cookies are used to enhance the User experience by facilitating website functionality, enabling session continuity, personalizing website content, and reducing the need for repeated logins. Cookies and similar technologies are also employed for website analytics and statistical purposes, including the use of third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, to monitor website performance, optimize content, improve Services, and inform marketing communications. Data collected through such analytics is generally anonymized and does not directly identify any individual.
Where a User provides identifiable information, such as subscribing to newsletters, purchasing Services, or accessing the website through a link from a marketing email, TechClass may link such information to previously collected cookie and analytics data to facilitate service delivery and marketing activities.
10.3. Except for strictly necessary cookies required to enable essential website functionality, the processing of cookies and similar technologies is based on the User’s explicit, informed, and freely given consent. TechClass implements active consent management through a cookie consent mechanism, enabling users to accept or reject cookies for the following purposes: functional, statistical, and marketing. This consent mechanism applies across multiple domains operated by TechClass, including, without limitation, techclass.com, start.techclass.com, partners.techclass.com, techclass.link, and the Learning Management System at learn.techclass.com.
10.4. Users may manage, block, or delete cookies at any time via browser settings or through the consent management interface provided by TechClass. In the absence of explicit refusal, continued use of TechClass’s websites is deemed as consent to the placement and use of cookies in accordance with this Policy.
10.5. The retention period of cookies varies depending on their type and purpose. Functional cookies typically expire at the end of a session, whereas marketing and analytics cookies may persist from a few days up to twelve (12) months, depending on consent settings and applicable regulatory requirements.
11.1. TechClass’s websites and platforms may contain links to third-party websites, resources, or services that are not owned, operated, or controlled by TechClass. TechClass does not assume any responsibility for the privacy practices, policies, or content of such third-party websites or services. Accessing or using such third-party websites or resources is at the sole risk of the User. Data subjects are strongly encouraged to review the privacy policies and terms of use of any third-party sites or services prior to providing any Personal Data or other information.
11.2. TechClass may engage third-party service providers to conduct advertising, marketing, and promotional activities on its behalf. Such third-party providers may collect and process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. TechClass shall ensure that agreements with such providers include appropriate contractual provisions to safeguard Personal Data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Data subjects have certain rights in relation to the processing of their Personal Data by TechClass. These rights may be exercised in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and may include the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or port Personal Data, as well as to object to certain processing activities.
12.1. Right of Access.
Data subjects have the right to obtain confirmation from TechClass as to whether Personal Data concerning them is being processed. Where Personal Data is processed, data subjects are entitled to access such Personal Data and information concerning the purposes of processing, categories of data, recipients, retention periods, and other relevant information.
12.2. Right to Correction.
Data subjects have the right to request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data. TechClass shall, subject to applicable law, make such corrections as soon as practicable when reasonable grounds exist for the request.
12.3. Right to Restriction of Processing.
Data subjects may request that TechClass restrict the processing of Personal Data in circumstances where:
(a) The accuracy of the data is contested.
(b) processing is unlawful and the data subject opposes erasure;
(c) TechClass no longer needs the data for processing purposes, but the data is required for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims; or
(d) The data subject has objected to processing based on legitimate interests pending verification of whether TechClass’s legitimate grounds override those of the data subject.
12.4. Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”).
Data subjects may request the deletion of Personal Data concerning them, subject to applicable legislation. TechClass may be required to retain certain Personal Data where other legal grounds permit or require processing, including contractual obligations or statutory retention periods.
12.5. Right to Data Portability.
Data subjects have the right to receive Personal Data they have provided to TechClass in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and to transmit such data to another controller where technically feasible.
12.6. Right to Object.
Data subjects have the right to object at any time to the processing of their Personal Data for:
(a) direct marketing purposes; or
(b) processing based on legitimate interests, unless TechClass demonstrates overriding legitimate grounds for the processing.
12.7. Right to Withdraw Consent.
Where processing is based on the data subject’s consent, the data subject may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing conducted prior to such withdrawal.
12.8. Right to Lodge a Complaint.
Data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority regarding TechClass’s processing of Personal Data. As TechClass operates in Finland, the lead supervisory authority is the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).
12.9 To exercise their rights, data subjects may contact TechClass using the contact details provided below. TechClass may require verification of the data subject’s identity prior to fulfilling a request. TechClass may not be able to fully comply with a request where legal obligations or other legitimate grounds prevent adherence. In such cases, the data subject shall be duly informed. Data subjects acknowledge that exercising certain rights, such as requesting deletion or restriction of Personal Data, may affect TechClass’s ability to provide Services. In such cases, TechClass shall inform the data subject of any consequences that may arise from continued use of the Services.

TechClass generally does not engage in automated decision-making or profiling based on Personal Data. In the event that automated decision-making or profiling is employed, data subjects retain the right to object to such processing at any time in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
TechClass’s Services are not directed to individuals under the age of sixteen (16). In the event that TechClass becomes aware that Personal Data of a child under sixteen (16) has been collected without the requisite consent, such data shall be promptly deleted.
TechClass reserves the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time. Data subjects are encouraged to periodically review the most current version of the Privacy Policy. The date of the most recent update will be indicated at the beginning of this document.
