About this course

This course explains how business email compromise works: attackers take over or imitate an email account to trick staff into paying money or changing bank details. It covers fake invoices and payment-detail changes, the verification steps that stop them, deepfake voice and video, and how to report a suspected attempt. It’s written for every employee, especially anyone who handles payments, invoices or supplier details.

These scams are convincing because they come from a familiar name, often in the middle of a real conversation, with urgency from a “senior manager”. An employee who follows the instruction in good faith can send a large payment to a criminal, and the money is often hard to recover. AI-generated voices and videos now mean that even a phone call is no longer proof of who is asking.
