About this course
This course explains what personal data is and the principles for handling it in everyday work. It covers sharing data safely inside and outside the organization, how long to keep it and how to delete it, the rights people have over their data, and how to recognize and report a data breach. It’s written for every employee, since almost everyone handles personal data in some form.
Personal data is everywhere at work: in spreadsheets, emails, customer systems and shared folders. Most people don’t think of a customer list or a colleague’s sick-leave note as something that needs special care, so it gets sent to the wrong person, kept indefinitely or shared with a vendor without checking. Everyday mistakes like these lead to data breaches, complaints and lost customer trust.
