Habits are essentially repeated routines and behaviors. In order to maintain good habits, you need to strive for them persistently and consistently. If you yearn to become better each day than yesterday, you need to incorporate the habit of daily learning into your life. As progress happens by constantly growing and learning, in this article, we will look into how you can establish the habit of routinely learning.

Find a Motivation and Set a Goal

What are the skills that you want to take up? Are there any things that interest you? Do you want to get better at something? Ponder over what motivates you to learn. Without a set goal and bucket list, you may not be able to maintain the momentum of learning. You need to look for the right inspiration to learn something new and channel that into improving your skills and knowledge.

Look for Sources

After you have determined what you want to learn, look for credible sources to learn from. Find diverse sources for the skill set you want to acquire but avoid low-quality or worthless information that will only end up wasting your time. Moreover, keep an eye out for outdated information. Only learn from the latest credible sources. TechClass offers training in a wide range of topics to keep you updated with the latest information and help you progress in your career.

Time Management

Here comes the most important part. Now that you have your essentials and are about to start learning, you need to manage your time to make way for the learning daily. Here’s a tip: Time blocking can help in giving a dedicated time of your day to learning. You can begin by learning in chunks of time, starting from the smallest. Time block half an hour for learning and plan to stick to at least 5 minutes and gradually increase that to 30.

Remove Distractions

To follow through with your habit, you will need to minimize your distractions, the biggest being the mobile phone. While your phone also carries a plethora of information that can be used wisely to further learn, it is also very easy to waste time on it. Delete social media apps that you do not use regularly and install apps that limit your use of unnecessary apps. Instead, bring learning apps on your home screen to use them instead of other distractions.

Embed Learning into Daily Routine

A habit develops in an average of 66 days, therefore, you need to persevere in following it daily. That will require you to embed it into your daily routine by fitting them around your lifestyle. While time blocking helps, not everyone can set aside time for learning. Adjust learning in a way that it does not compete with work tasks or home chores that will disrupt your day-to-day activities, rather use learning triggers like language flash cards or sticky notes to remind you to spare some time for it.

Surround Yourself with Like-Minded Learners

Learning alone can be isolating. Other passionate learners can not only keep you motivated to learn but also act as your accountability partners to ensure you keep learning. If the people around you are lifelong learners, there is a chance that you will follow suit. You will spend your time doing what they do as well and grow together. You will also learn better by collaborating. Sharing what you have learned and listening to the experience of other learners can bring new insights and broaden your horizon in learning new things.

Reflect and Revise

Reflecting on what you have learned daily can enhance the learning process. But you will also need to reflect on whether you are able to follow through learning daily through multiple sources, setting goals, and meeting fellow learners. If you are missing your daily learning habit consecutively for five days, you may want to break it down into something easier and smaller rather than blaming that on a slow day. Constant reflection and revision of your routine will help you find solutions that will keep you going, preventing you from giving up and eventually, you will find yourself doing it daily as a habit.
