Funded Trainings Privacy Policy
1. TechClass as processor
TechClass processes personal data on behalf of the Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment, SECLE (Finnish: Jatkuvan oppimisen ja työllisyyden palvelukeskus, referred to in this notice as “JOTPA”), within the scope of the training programme and its admission process. This includes the applicant’s name, date of birth, email address, selected training programme, employment information, and relevant demographic and educational background information.
JOTPA acts as the controller for this processing, and TechClass processes the data on JOTPA’s documented instructions. Further information about JOTPA’s processing is available in JOTPA’s Student Registers Privacy Policy.
2. Reporting of study information
TechClass also processes the applicant’s Finnish personal identity code for statutory reporting of study information in accordance with JOTPA’s documented instructions. If a study right is granted, the required study-right and study-completion information is recorded through the national KOSKI service in Opintopolku, Finland’s national study information service, into the register of non-regulated training. The Finnish National Agency for Education and JOTPA act as joint controllers of the register. Further information is available in the Privacy Policy for the Register of Non-Regulated Training.
3. TechClass as controller
TechClass also processes certain personal data as an independent controller in connection with the administration and delivery of the training.
TechClass processes the applicant’s name, selected training programme and relevant employment and background information to assess the applicable student-selection criteria. This processing is based on TechClass’s legal obligations as the training provider.
TechClass also processes the applicant’s name, email address and selected training programme to create and administer TechClass LMS accounts for admitted students, provide access to the appropriate training, manage participation and send necessary communications relating to these services. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between TechClass and the student governing use of the LMS and provision of the training.
TechClass processes mother tongue and education-level information based on its legitimate interest in verifying contractual requirements relating to the provision of the training.
Information about how the applicant learned about the programme is processed based on TechClass’s legitimate interests in evaluating programme marketing and administering related arrangements.
TechClass also processes necessary administrative and technical log data based on its legitimate interests in maintaining the security and proper functioning of the registration and learning services.
In addition, TechClass processes the applicant’s phone number for registration and student administration and related communications. If the applicant is admitted, the phone number may also be used to provide study-related support during the training. This processing is based on TechClass’s legitimate interests in administering the applicant and student relationship, maintaining effective communication, and supporting participation and progress in the training. If you do not wish to receive study-related support calls, you can ask us at any time not to use your phone number for this purpose. Such a request does not, by itself, affect the use of your phone number for administrative communications relating to your application or participation in the training.
4. Service providers
TechClass may use service providers, including hosting and data storage providers, to support the processing described in this notice. Further information on TechClass’s use of service providers is available in the TechClass Privacy Policy.
5. Data retention
Personal data processed by TechClass on behalf of JOTPA is retained in accordance with JOTPA’s instructions and the applicable data processing agreement, unless applicable law requires longer retention. Further information on JOTPA’s retention of personal data is available in JOTPA’s Student Registers Privacy Policy.
Information recorded in the register of non-regulated training is retained in accordance with the retention requirements applicable to that register, as further described in the Privacy Policy for the Register of Non-Regulated Training.
Personal data for which TechClass acts as controller is retained as described in the TechClass Privacy Policy.
6. Automated decision-making
TechClass does not use automated decision-making or profiling when assessing applicants or supporting the admission process.
